New Toro Tx 1000 Wide Track

MY top Legends in the tree Industry, Shigo, Chisholm, Beranek, Poor, Stennis, Ball, Good, Cox, McMahon, and many more that have added significantly to the practice of arboriculture.

Shigo...nobody else up there has done one thing for me. Not that I don't respect them...but "legends?"...kind of the way the term "hero" is thrown around these days.

My tx1000 with Toro grapple would grab that piece, curl it up, and literally toss it mid truck. This guys bmg flops all over because he has the difficult job of finding the precise balance point, he has to drop and re grab, he barely gets over the drop point in the truck as it hangs so low, then he hardly can pull the thing out of the truck and is nearly stuck in there. In my mind, and note I owned one for almost 2 years, this is a typical disappointment in this grapple when you go to the superior clam set up. Trying to be objective here.

We all understand that the clam grapple would be faster in some instances but a free hanging grapple is best for picking up long large branches and stacked bundles and feeding the chipper. Just have both with you on trailer and you have the best of both worlds

It just plain doesn't open wide enough to grasp bundles of branches no matter what you say. 1 big one or maybe a couple of larger ones...then it runs out of opening width and you have to choreograph like hell to not look real dumb for buying the thing. homersimpsondoh.webp

Not the vagueness of that comment. Do you carry TWO grapples out to every job? Does anybody? Which is the best ONE to deploy? I think the answer is obvious.

I do have both grapples on trailer. It takes 5 minutes to switch from implemax grapple to the clam grapple. I understand we all don't have both but each tool has its advantages.

Poppy Cock!
Damn I cant even carry one a few feet, let alone to a job next door, let alone carry TWO grapples.

Is any one listening to the real story here?lol
aaand....Just what tf makes a "legend in the industry"? Bunch of you ole farts flapping your lips more about one guy than another? It is all the same processes. I suppose, unlike the objections to the contrary from "TC (tired climber) 262" above it must be time in saddle and observed difficult jobs. If that is the case, I bet if there were some kind of "time in meter" up in the sky, I got more "time in" than any of you morons. I have no need nor desire to schmooze around with you convention guys and tell years gone by stories...I still take on any tree every day at 67 then go to the gym. And don't give me that shit your trees are bigger, whatever big trees we have are plenty big and however bigger they were, we'd just climb a little higher and knock out the damn job....no biggie.
I cant help but feel you are a little sad no one nominated you for "hero" status, clearly you are a legend!

Back to the tx 1000..... basically if i get the narrow track I'll have to mat it in but the wide track I won't have to mat in?
If that is your main concern you need an avant 420 articulated loader, or similar species. Multiple trips with minis on wide tracks will damage most any turf, as will moderate and sharp turns. I have narrow tracks because wide tracks just offer a pleasant fiction, with extra width to keep you out of the back yard gate. In my market, I can (surprisingly) usually gain access without needing plywood.

Gates Gorman....gates. Just picture taking a selfie of a pile of wood in the backyard, you standing next to your $35,000 machine...and you're knockin but you can't get in....
