ZigZag and RW tether - my Avatar

Thank you moss. I normaly try to avoid that the rope device will be pressed to a limb. If I ascend then I try to make a big step with my foot ascender and shift the device by hand above the limb. Or did you maybe talk about something different here? Sorry if so. I am not a native speaker and sometimes I am at the limit of my school english.

Another question about the shackle please. What is the benefit of a twisted one over a straight one?

Bernd

Your English is great, Bernd. I'm glad you posted this thread. I've learned a lot already.

I thought about learning a second language but I found out that would mean that more people would want to talk to me. I think I'm going to unlearn English and that way no one will talk to me, I have found that most folks I like can communicate just fine with pointing, grunting and just doing it. :laola:

The orientation of the twisted shackle works better for me to build a tether, either could work depending on how you're building the tether.

I always try to avoid smearing/sliding my wrench/tether/hitch under load against a limb but once in awhile normal strategies to keep it off the wood don't work out and it happens. I'm always pleased with how well a strong but slightly flexible tether and wrench handles that situation.

The other situation is when you're advancing/dragging your device through a union, it's not as severe a side loading but your system can take a thrashing depending on the bark texture etc. I wonder about the ZZ handling all that.

Ok moss, I understand. Thank you very much.

Category is ............................. "For What it is Worth" !

1. My understanding is that the ZZ has not been approved for SRT by Petzl.

2. At Jambo this year, Jared Abrojena was DQ'd for using the ZZ & RW combination. Jared rep's for Petzl !

3. At the NEC TCC this year, the Tech Gear Inspection Team also dis-allowed the combination use.

I completely understand that folks are out there pushing the boundaries. I'm just say'in Let's
be safe.
I agree with your concerns. However I and the majority of these guys trying pushing the limits are professionals and understand the implications of all out gear failure , I have personally put myself at risk and found what limits that risk, and that was doing industry excepted applications. For me the combo has the most control and dependability of any hitch I have ever tied. Maybe petzl can work with bing to develop a mutation of fantasy❤️
