Zig Zag progress

I saw a prototype at a summer conference demo (not the subject of the demo) and it looked like they just added a rubber grommet of sorts to the top hole to keep the carabiner oriented properly. Nothing else that I have officially heard or seen.

Jeeze....i couldve sworn it was on the buzz i saw the "new" version...maybe a search would shed some light...

I've had it with wet hitches and couldn't wait for the treebuzz search. I only use search for a more unique name or subject. I need that Zig Zag yesterday. Oh ya it was available yesterday.

Lol...dont think you would like yesterday's version...people got hurt. And as much as i love lurking the buzz...the search engine does $uck. Role with the spiderjack...takes a lot of getting used to but i cannot see wanting to descend faster...

there is a rubber ring of sorts inside the top hole to hold the carabiner oriented, beefing up might not have been the goal rather than avoiding the situation that caused the first generation to fail.

Based on my experience with the pulley/rack on Tachyon SRT, there is little doubt in my mind that the zigzag would work SRT if they were to add one more zig and zag to the device.

Yah know I was wondering that as well couldn't you hook up a rope wrench to it and climb SRT? I mean it functions the same as a regular eye to eye Prusik within reason of coarse, but wouldn't it work the same I had a gen 1 zig zag and I loved every minute, and never hand a issue with side loading a carabiner, I feel that the climber should be paying close attention to every aspect of there climbing apparatus, anytime I would sit or put any weight into my system even with a lanyard I checked just seemed like common sense to me to check

My motto: check, double check, and check it again,

The new 2014 Zig-Zag will still be the same instructions as the 2013 version. So they will not say you can use it in an SRT set up. When I hooked up mine with a RW and it seemed to pull the chain in an awkward position.

I had a great time with the RW/ZZ combo. The tether happened to fit like a real happy accident, and it eliminated the use of the top eye on the ZZ. The eye just helped hold the tether upright and made for a great tending attachment point. I ran a swivel on my bridge, so I had no issue with canceling the built in swivel function.

In this case, I would have had much more concern for the strength of the cam attachment to the pulley frame, rather than the integrity of the upper eye.
