Yep, I stole this idea from Reg's video.

Lol, $3000-$5000 on a $4000 chipper just didn't make sense to me. This setup cost me less than $300 for the steel. I already owned the winch. Add a couple hours for machining, welding and paint eventually. For the couple jobs I do a month it just seemed to make more sense for me.
 
That really is awesome. I have so much welding work that needs to be done right now I'm fixin to do the same. Perfect for a light ship. I cant tell does that one rotate.. I have to watch regs vid again ..I think his does..
 
I mounted 12v, 12k# cable winch on my chipper years ago. Tube in tube with a locking screw so I could pull with the fairlead pointed any direction.

It worked well enough This, with the capstan seems like a better solution

It does rotate. I was hoping to finish the welds today but it was raining out. High amperage in the rain always seemed like a bad idea to me.
