XT?

[ QUOTE ]
XT is the same config as the VT but after the top wraps it goes over, under, over instead of over, over, over tends to stick more.

The VT (Valdotain tresse) does go 'over, under, over'. 'Tresse' means 'braid' in French and the VT is a series of wraps and braids.

The Valdotain goes 'over, over, over'. It is essentially just a series of wraps and is bi-directional.

Assuming that all other variables are the same, the Valdotain tresse is more reliable than the Valdotain.

See 'An Overview of Climbing Hitches' in Arborist News, October, 2004, pp. 29-35.

I think Mark is working on putting that article here on TB.

As I understand it, the XT is a VT but with dbl twists at the end . That's kinda what I've been doing for a long while.

Mahk, the webpeople have 5 articles to add, so I'm sure that it will be up any day now.
Thanks.

Yeah your right muddling up the VT and Valdotain(Brain stops functioning after 6 in the evening)
The XT does go Over and under and over and under its hard to explain each loop wraps round itself and goes back the opposite way...

What about the MT(Manchard Tresse)? I've heard it's tied with a closed loop of cord, but Iv'e never seen it or been able to tie it.

i always find it easier to 'see' the knot as opposed to all these 'left tuck as aopposed to right tuck' descriptions. just a visual comparison

Kevin- that's goofy. You need to slap someone around over there. /forum/images/graemlins/afightee.gif

How do they enforce something like that? Do they come around and make sure the ends are melted?

All they have to do is stop on a job site and do an inspection.
I had a plastic guard on my flip line "that I added" for chafe protection and that won't pass either.
