WTB Rope Wrench ZK1

Hi all,

First post here, and of course it's cuz I'm looking for something!

I rec climb (with hopes to tree camp) on 9mm HTP static line using the RADS system. It's a pain to move around in the tree with the grigri, so I've been looking into friction hitch options, on a budget of course. The old F8 systems require too many floppy pieces, and the new ZK2 is only spec'd for 11-13 mm ropes.

I'm wanting to try out the ZK1, adding a stiff tether, to see if the adjustable pin will allow for the right friction adjustment to work smoothly on my thin line.

Let me know if you're interested in selling or trading for anything. I've got mostly rock climbing gear that I've used in trees (pulleys, Black diamond figure 8, non-locking or screwgate biners, quickdraws) plus some random sections of rope, most notably about 45' of 7/8" unused bull rope I randomly acquired.

I'd also love to hear about anyone's experience that may have tried something like this or any other creative options to make thin lines work for more than just access.

I wish I had a ZK2 to test out!

I tried a friction hitch (8mm HRC) on my 9mm HTP this afternoon with a f8 revolver type friction sink added above it. Stayed low and slow and the hitch grabbed and descended pretty smoothly. Of course it was just a paint to keep the f8 oriented correctly any time I tried to move upwards. Hence the desire to try out the RW.

I'd be interested in trying out a ZK2 as well then if a bigger bushing could be added simply enough.

Thanks for the reply. Was hoping to just spend around $50. Sounds like I have one on the way locally, I'll post an update if it doesn't work out for whatever reason though.

By the way, were you able to just install the slic pin that's available for the zk2?
