Wraptor tips and tricks?

just bought one from lumberjack this afternoon. I figure if I'm going at this tree work seriously it's smart to have tools that will lessen the wear and tear on me if I can. I have watched all the youtube videos but if anyone has any pertinent information I would be obliged to listen

I'll tell you that your first trip up will surprise you. When you get to the top you will wonder what to do next. Keep your lanyard at the ready and clip in when you stop. Then think about your next step, higher TIP or whatever. I use mine all the time. Huge money maker for storm damaged limbs. Oh and go buy a bigger pair of pants, you're about to gain fifteen lbs.

The 150' of rope it comes with seems short for what I do if I want to base tie and lower it back to the ground. thinking of double fishermans to a 200' arbormaster and running it on that. Sound ok?

Congrats that was both a good price and money well spent.

I have a 200ft rope on that seems about minimum on the west coast. RopeArmour (Thomas) had put up an idea of having a scabbard on your top handle saw at times in the tree. I never really saw a need for that in my work till I bought a Wraptor. Now I keep a bar and chain scabbard in my Wraptor box, put it on my saw for the ride up and toss it down when ready to work. Saving my rope a bunch of picks.

Yeah, but i talked to paul about that and there is a back door, sort of.

I tie two ropes, as needed.

Frequent basal-anchor. When at the Redirect point, lanyard in, change climbing line to tree, have groundie untie base tie. Lower from the top, groundie uses down-strand to guide Wraptor away from tree parts. Keep the down-strand away from the carb cover. If it gets in there, and there is ground tension from guiding it down, it might get damaged. You can clip the down strand above the gibbs with the attached biner to alleviate that problem.

If needed, controlled speedline down climb-line. I generally keep my rope bagged, and up with me, though. Just an option.

I use a 12" sling, girth hitched to the Wraptor's TIP. I clip in short with a biner to my bridge. A bowline on my climbing line is tied over the 12" sling on the TIP. In an emergency, if I can't get my weight off the sling to descend, its cuttable (hopefully no need).
