This crane op's first tree. Went pretty smooth but still stressful. Picked small anyway due to lousy drop zone. He has plenty of crane experience & credentials and picked it up quick. The rest of the trees were blind picks.

Here's a job from the other day. Sorry the pics aren't the best. I just snapped a couple of quick ones while working. 36" diameter rotting pin oak along a roadway. I had to remove the fence including fence post in case the hinge didn't hold. I used the rope Jack to pull the post, didnt have any heavy equipment there until later in the day to pull them.

This tree was in bad enough shape that I tapped the trunk with a hammer and 6" of trunk wood turned to dust. No climbing, felled it whole and hired a sub with a tractor for cleanup.

If you notice in the first picture everybody has theirs on. This is not me in the second picture. He had them on until right before the picture. We thought we had the log cut in half but it was hanging just a bit. Its still hot in Alabama so you don't want to wear them once they are no longer needed. I still had my helmet on while I was taking the picture as I was the one rigging the slings.
