Ive been wearing smartwool long johns and overshirts this winter and im about ready to throw away every piece of capilene and tech fabric i own. This stuff wicks moisture and breathes better then anything ive ever used. I feel like i have alot less layers on then normal and can move better in the tree and stay warmer longer during period of inactivity, like waiting for the ground guys to tie something on. In my continuing search for more wool products i found the Ibex company.

this stuff looks solid. anyone ever try any of it? I do really like the hood option which my smartwool lacks. and im about ready to restock my undies with all wool.

Looks awesome. I really like the hood and thumb holes. I have an old Bergelene shirt from EMS with thumb holes that I love (they have since stopped putting thumb holes on their men's shirts - but the women's still have them

).

How is the stink factor with smartwool? I know every synthetic shirt I've tried gets nasty after a while...

Wool is where its at guys. Forget that synthetic crap. I wear wool 365, mostly Smartwool. I have a few different brands of socks, and hats, but always go back to Smartwool. Their technology beats everyone else IMO.

Check out Icebreaker, I have a hat from them and its my go to hat for work right now

I have been wearing only smartwool socks for the last two years. In 100 degree days they are their best, my foot is completely dry at the end of the day, my boots smells great all summer long. In Texas!!! Can't say enough of how great this product is.

As my synthetics wear out I'm going to upgrade.

Shirts/jackets with thumbies are the BEST! My favorite jacket was made by Lowe years ago.The jacket has gotten so much wear the fleece is gone and the nylon 'netting' is visible.

Bull,

Which ice breaker hat model would you recommend?

I have the pocket 200. Fits great under the hardhat and looks nice without one as well. Next choice would be the Smartwool "the lid".

I picked up a pair of Mechanix Wear gloves the other day that had wool on the back side of the glove. Man are they warm. I wore them all day in 15 degree weather and my hands never got cold. The dexterity in them is good also along with the grip. I footlocked around 40 feet with them and they gripped the rope great. Sorry for the slight derail but their is a bit of wool involved.

If you use borax when you wash the synthetics or the washable wool, it should take care of the stink factor. My cycling jerseys were getting really rank until I started using borax.

I dont know what kind of wool you guys are wearing that smells after asingle wash? That is one of the selling poiints to me, I can wear my wool 2-3 days in a row (if I have to) and the smell isnt there. I cant go 1/2 day in synthetics without a stink factor, nevermind a couple days. merino wool is naturally anitbacterial, so im told.

I have some merino wool tops and bottoms that I don't wear any more that I would be willing to get rid of.

Same here for socks, When ever I see Bridgedale knee-highs on sale at STP I will buy a boatload.

With wool i can wear two pair of socks w/o worrying about sweat buildup. The shear-plain you get with 2 or 3 pair of socks allows you to stay on your feet much longer. Learned that in the USMC the hard way, we would put a pair of dress socks on as a liner, and would not get blistered as fast.

Like Bull, I wear Smartwool 365, inside and outside. The technology in the wool these days are so much better than before, that the industry is thriving.

Do yourself a favor and just buy one pair of Smartwool socks and try them out and you'll see how great the stuff really is.
