Anyone ever seen something like this? A co-worker showed me this a couple weeks ago. My third-hand info is that the HO said the tree was covered in black and yellow caterpillars the previous year. I'm guessing it wasn't cats but more likely sawfly, possibly Nematus sawfly.
Could this be feeding or oviposition scars?
