why dont more women contribute to buzz!!

Speaking for myself...

I don't participate here for basically two reasons. First, most of my computer time is spent studying right now, so forum participation is at a minimum. Second, topics of interest. There just aren't that many. I can't, won't discuss chain saws ad nauseum, I am not a climber either competitive or professionally, I won't read the accident forums (I do NOT need to be regaled with the hazards of our trade, I face it daily). I do enjoy the Bugs and Crud, and Tree ID, but they are a bit slow. I enjoy homeowner questions, but this forum doesn't seem to have that many. I like being able to try to help or am interested in what others suggest, as this is a great way to learn about other ideas or remedies for other areas.

But until I am through this particularly intensive study period, I will continue to be an infrequent participant.

Well said kellyp, I agree. I'll bet women are more likely to lurk and less likely to participate, especially when it gets contentious. Generally speaking, men seem to be quicker to argue than women

We did have some pretty active threads that were female arbo centric but that was a few months ago. I'm not sure why it played out.

I have to agree about taking the passive route. I tend to lurk and read the ongoing discussions, but don't inject my own opinion. Lack of experience in the field limits me. Maybe someday I will be brave enough to argue w/ the best of the boys. :)
