Hi folks,

Getting an estimate out this morning for a decently thick laurel oak, and thinking to step up from a 440 to a 661 with 42" bar for my stump cut. I've heard the 661 is a sleepy high torque monster that wakes up when ported. Any feedback on this, and any thoughts on if proximity/shipping cost is important, or if the skill of the technician is more important? Any technician references to pass along? Also, which bars should I get?

The 661 is doesn't need to be woken up. It's a terrorist right out the box. If you did 42" half or full skip chain you would be fine. You should be fine with the Stihl rollermatic bars.
