wheels/ tires for mini skid

Just curious from you guys who are currently or have in the past run a mini skid with tires if you have a good source on replacements or anywhere to steer clear of? Also your preference on tread type? I had gotten a quote from Vermeer some time ago for about $140/ea for the bar tread 6ply or $100/ea for turf tread at 4 ply.

My current setup on my Vermeer S600 is bar tread and foam filled but they were worn slick when I bought the machine, I would continue to run these except I ruined a tire the other day and am now looking for replacements. Another question I have is how big of a difference does it make to have a larger ply, if you get the tires filled? I found turf treads on E-bay at 4 ply for $15/ea plus shipping.

I will also be looking for new wheels since these were filled with foam, and while I am at it, looking for a narrower set of wheels/tires to switch out to when needed for 36" access.

My bar treads came on the Dingo. When I switched to turf I just typed the size and ended up finding wheels and tires from one of the online golf cart shops for @$30 each. They are 4 ply and want 40-50 psi but I have been running 20psi since I put them on.

The ones that I found are listed as a riding mower tire, but all of the measurements are the same. The only difference being the tread pattern.

Did you prefer the turf tread over the bar?

I do so far. I do switch back to the bars and sometimes add the chains if I will be in soft or sloppy dirt all day. But for grass or street the treads work better. In the snow it becomes debatable depending on the depth and mixture.
