Since it only has one job, which is to hold a splice that is NOT loaded, you can really use whatever you want. It takes a lot of work to hold waxed dental floss in a dyneema splice...

I like 2mm accessory cord.

Since amsteel is a 12 strand class 2 it's requires a straight bury.

"Requires" is such a strong word...
