what size throw bags do you use ?

i can get a heavy bag pretty high but 10oz is the one im most accurate with. sometimes ill use a 12 if i can tell isolating and retrieval will be difficult. 8oz is a teaser for me cause i get it where i want to go but doesnt always come down so she stays on my saddle for in-tree use.
dynaglide is my line too.

anyone use those red round throwballs? the name is escaping me right now...
and is a harrison rocket really worth the $?

Try it! You get your money back if you find it does not out perform throw bags.

better accuracy, more speed, smooth and easy rope positioning vs a throw bag.

I have and still use my original snow, mud, turf, rock and forest floor the thing is shiny. Keep an eye on it!

Like others have said the savings and gains from utilizing
a ropearmour is monumental.

The community loves their bags, tradition and status quo is what it is but the challenge for you is to zig when everyone is zagin. All the greats do!
There is always something better but at this time the RK is it and being the best at something as important as getting your lines into the trees quickly and effeciently so you get to work with confidence that your Rk is designed to do what you ask of it.That is the real value and that is the truth from me to you, one arbclimber to another.

If your expecting throw lining miracles, RopeKnight will be a most pleasant suprise.

The cost is simple one RK replaces dozens of bags.

My order from Tree Stuff arrived this morning and I just tried out the 12oz bag instead of my 10oz bag (Thanks for the speedy delivery - got it in just 2 days)

Definitely notice you get a bit more accuracy/control with the 12oz versus the 10oz bag.

Definitely see you will NOT get as much height with the 12oz versus the 10oz bag. However, it should be fine for up to 60' with reasonable accuracy.

The 14oz is a bit of a beast. Can't imagine what a 16oz bag would be like. And I certainly wouldn't want to be near them when they come screaming down to the ground :-)

No opinion on the Dynaglide throw line yet

How on earth is a canvas bean bag more dangerous than a chunk of stainless steel?

[/ QUOTE ]

Aluminum and stainless steel with optional foam or vinyl protectors among other bits n bobs. please take a closer look at the tool seems you are missing alot of our information.

1. Most bags are toxic LEAD Plumbum and the dust or ooze is dangerous
2. Retrieving a bag means jams and snags and the greater potential for a high speed catapulting type action towards the throw liner
3. we offer two protective sleeves. The foam and rubber is as soft as a NERF ball, if I was planning on getting hit with a throw ball or an RK with protective sleeve, I would prefer foam over Metal in a bag every time
4. How many of us have cut our fingers with the throwline when the bag jams? RopeKnight is designed for smooth TiP isolation and throwline to rope transition smooth over.
5.Because it looks like a bullet we treat it with the care and respect it deserves. Its shiney metal-nothing to fear if you apply common sense and follow the instructions.

Either way you want to look at it, a lump of metal or lump of metal in a bag its your choice. The one thing that is clear is the RopeArmor is much more than a wt/bag.

I keep an old fig 8 in my throwbag, then you can just double wrap a girth hitch or other, and pull on the big eye if your bag is jammed.

No cutting of hands or fingers then :)

I do think the foam/nerf cover is a bit big for most applications and that could jam.

I use a handle ascender for a pull down removal with a throw line. Bags get jammed and having to yank hard on snags will tire them out. Jams, snags and tired lines is unnecessary considering RA is available.
The foam is a bit bigger than a 16oz bag and has the same bullet shape and will slip off when necessary.

Using a short piece of stick laying around with two wraps will save your fingers, but I like the F8 idea too.

I have used bags from 8-16 oz but will probably never buy another in any weight besides 12oz or 14oz. 12 usually hits the balance between ease of throwing and getting the bag to drop for me.

That would depend on the goal. We were working some 140 ft tall white pines yesterday and we were launching 10 oz HR on a light line. If we are not try for such long shots we use a heavier braided spectra line that tangles less and with its 1200# can be used as a tag line. And no we did not come close to 140', still lots of climbing to do after SRT access.
