John, the scabbard has a neat way of locking closed and you could clip a biner through it's hole. But I don't trust it so I girth hitched a 1/16th inch cord around the shank between the screws and added a 1 inch mini pear clip. To that I attach a sling, and hang from belt or branch.
I'm not totally pleased with the Hayauchi, as the red cams don't hold, so you must use the detents. Plus, my very first use, I had forgotten to check all detents, and the clips didnt hold, I lost two sections 80 feet out of an elm onto the asphalt. Now it has an unrepairable kink that doesn't allow the smallest section to close all the way, thus really limiting the ways it can be used. if the cam clips held, it would not matter. The Stihl unit, made by Silky, looks to be a better design, but is way pricey and only 16 feet long.
I rarely use it, but in those difficult reach situations, it is invaluable.
