Just like Vegas I guess? All good, flashing lights are just a part of life!
Totally agree. I avoid the buzz on my computer and only tend to check in via my phone. I don’t really even seem to think about it, it’s just default. Occasionally when I want to reply I will start on my phone then edit via computer.. the ads certainly have an adverse effect... I’d much prefer a sponsor list, even with logos over the flashing crap. This kind of thing (increasing and animating ad space to increase returns) can have a reverse effect. When the adds make the webpage hard to concentrate then people will make various adjustments. Some may just not spend as much time here, others like me will find a simple work around. I used "Ctrl +" to increase the text size till the flashing crap (what used to be interesting adds) disappeared from the viewable area.
Not trying to be an ass, just pointing out that this kind of thing can backfire.
I appreciate that. I will also offer an alternative mindset- what if you look at the ads as being beneficial to you in that they are directly responsible for supporting the space that you are enjoying? The truth is the ads keep the site up and running. I'm sure you and everyone else understand that everything costs money to produce and maintain, so the choice is ask the members to foot the bill or ask companies to do it and give them "value" in exchange for their support. I'll also point out some sponsors are members here as well. This kind of thing (increasing and animating ad space to increase returns) can have a reverse effect. Cute. However on a serious note, what is the price difference on a animated ad vrs a still? What if we set up a donation pool to offset the lost revenue of keeping the AdDs stillAgain, I can appreciate that. Just tell me what ads you don't like and I'll get rid of them. Just let me know where to send the invoice![]()
