what is model of rope is better to use with zigzag and chicane?

From the Petzl web site: "EN 1891 type A low stretch kernmantel ropes"

That said, any rope that runs well with a ZK-2 Rope Wrench would make sense. Yale 11.7mm double braid arborist lines for example. I think it's going to come down to what you like to climb on in the 11 - 11.7mm diameter arb rope range. Lines that are not as good are Sterling HTP and similar low stretch super static lines that feel like a steel cable when you load them up.

I've been using Yale 11.7s and they are superb. Today I used Tangent which is the orange version of samson voyager 11.8. It was perfect too.

They are a little difficult to feed into the zigzag so a thicker rope would make that even more difficult.

It is a superb device.!

11.8mm Voyager/Tangent and the Yale 11.7mm doublebraids Aztec/BlueMoon/Sumac/etc. get my vote, as well. So far, these two ropes have been the best that I have tried with the ZigZag, both with and without the Chicane.

I just purchased my first zig zag a few weeks ago. I climb on samson 16 strand half inch arbormaster and the zz works magnificently for dr t. I haven't tried it Sr t yet. Before zz I used a hitch climber and thought it was great, but the zz is a whole nother level.

I have Scion, Tachyon Ash, Poison Ivy, and also some 16 strand static stuff I used at first but that I think is actually rigging rope. My ZZ/RW works great on every one of them for SRT. Only issue I encounter is simply how hard it is to get a large rope through the ZZ to start with. But that is often more a function of how I finished off the rope end, not really the rope itself. A messy 'butane backsplice' is a problem but a tight lashing with small strong thread, which sucks in the OD of the rope, works well. If I can get the rope thru, it seems to work fine after that and tends OK. Other issues, like how bouncy the particular rope is on a given height of climb, have nothing to do with the devices. Where I think a problem would be encountered is to go too small in diameter with the rope, so that the ZZ links fail to grab reliably. But small rope, like the stuff rock climbers use, is very uncomfortable on the hands. Who wants to use it in a tree?

Pretty much anything that falls within the recommendations is great except for stiff ropes with tighter braids but they work too.
I personally like thinner stuff like Yale 11.7, ce lanyard "11mm", and even Samson velocity was fine..you can really fly around on velocity but get used to the zz and develope some confidence in yourself before going that skinny.
