What does the FUTURE arborist look like?

Nice, Dooley, treemek is here and will only get better. I feel like pruning and PHC will be entrusted to humans for another 30 years or so.

I like the vid in the OP, especially like the idea of the light weight, extendable pruning saw. Something I would change though, get rid of the tail! Mount the RC ascender at the base of the tree and hook the climber into the rope end. Of course, the fancy drone would need to set a pulley for you top side, but i think it could handle that. :)

You don't wish you had a tail? I do. All the time. I'd wag it and stuff.

Maybe it will all look like this -
I've seen that right out my window. It is crazy. They were clearing around power lines going up and over a ridge out my back window. It seems very clumsy and quite terrifying. The chopper with a chopper makes a lot of sense, but wow is that crazy. There has got to be a quick disconnect configured into the system, 'cause I could see it going terribly wrong.

Is anybody familiar with comedian Brian Regan's ironing board bit.
I feel this chopper set up has to have gone through a similar approval.
"Yeah, so I want to make this big long row of huge spinning blades, yeah I mean huge, like, 5 times the size of me. Oh and I want to dangle that off the end of a long uncontrollable swinging cable attached to a small helicopter. And did I mention this will be used for clearing trees that are extremely close to high voltage power lines! Yeah, just sign here please and thank you."

It was mentioned about using a drone to set a climb line, would it be possible to send one up to check your high, out of sight from the ground TIP?
