Yes, that is what colonizing is, displacing native peoples or enslaving them. The lessons of yesterday stand but at least the Americans stopped with colonizing their own country and didn't go like the Brits, trying to colonize the whole world.

Easy now, isn´t that just what us is trying to do? Before they wanted pepper, gold, slaves etc - now its all about oil! It´s a race and now you all need to beat the chinese. Colonosation today is like banned prostitution, it goes underground, like it or not.

The philipines, haiti, nicaraugua, vietnam, panama, guam, puerto rico, colombia, afganistan, Iran with the Shah, Now Iraq, I could go on, the list of places where we have exerted force to control resources is quite extensive. That is US government using force, that doesnt include huge coporations that colonize. There are plenty of European copororations guilty of that as well.

We have been some of the most prolific colinizers out there.

Wolter: I respect your opinion on the article because you actually live in Europe and know the culture better than us Americans. Can you elaborat on the parts you saw to be true?

I find it funny that mostly Americans (and one Aussie. Don't worry, I remembered you Eric) had a comment about this. I thought the European brothers would be the ones to answer in the majority.
