Memorial Day weekend I went to a party. A 95 year old vet who was part of the invasion at Normandy was there. I took advantage and sat and listened for hours of detailed stories about the experiences he had gone through. He didn't actually land but was a part of getting soldiers there. Amazing how detailed he remembered from such a long time ago.
Days that we wish away.
We carry on in remembrance of those who have sacrificed
Forever grateful, to love in freedom
Hold the hand of a hero and pray
Your day never comes
My uncle passed here in April. He hit Omaha on D+3 and was part of Patton's 3rd Army. He along with my dad and other uncle were their own personal "Band of Brothers" as all 3 served in Europe. RIP EJG, RHG, and RHG and thank you.
