Weekend accomplishments - Dec. 20-something

Late last night, called the grocery store manager hours after he closed shop to meet me at his loading dock for what Del Monte sells in one(1) gallon cans of tomato juice. Bought four(4) of 'em. Payed a premium too and drove both ways in my pajamies, wearing Sorels (30-degrees outside).

What necessitated this were my dogs begging at the door to go out one more time, 11:30pm, to pee (I thought). What went down was they heard an intruder. These dogs are young enough to not know what my last dogs (and myself) knew well, which was skunk. They know now, and I'm reminded again.

Other than that, I killed a 200T (cutting with the grain on live oak firewood that refused to split conventionally), which was expected, given her age and condition, and ate a lot of spiral ham (as did the dogs, which is why I thought they did need to pee, they drank a lot of water).

Eventfull close to an otherwise lazy and fat after-holiday weekend where my wife and I could spend some time together before she's off to the Inagural for a couple weeks rehearsing for some kind of show. Her performing outfits now with a hint of oily fresh skunk and relatives still upset we didn't make the annual traditional gathering for X-mass. The dogs smell great now, the house and all inside it, doesn't.

Grand child is visiting.

We visited the local animal shelter and did the volunteer thing, pet cats, play with the puppies, walked the dogs.

Played Mancala for hours and laughed.

Sunday we visited the HIGH Museum to see the Terracota army from 212 BC - China. that was amazing

then it was SUSHI time and a movie at home

WALL- E - a great kids movie geared to all - the message is - Recyle, reuse keep the earth clean.

Another part of being 'moved in' is done.

Yesterday I got my bookshelves mounted and filled. Now my books are lining the wall of my bedroom. That's like having a bunch of great friends in the house.

The shelves are made from lumber sawn from a burr oak. When I had the log milled I left the bark edge on the lumber. The shelves are lined up in the order that they were in the log.
