I hadda rethink the screwlink attachment points on my Treemotion Evo, that i use as saw hangers. there was a rip starting in the saddle pleather material on the right side. i guess i don't use the left as much, as no tearing there.
At first I tried putting a large screwlink a little further back, but as soon as I tried it on for size, I was immediately unhappy that the saw was further back on my hip. If my rope bridge attachment point is my 12 o'clock (directly in front), ideally i'd like the saw to be no more of a reach than 90°, either 9 o'clock onna left or 0300 on right. And by placing the screw links thru the webbing that holds the side 'D's, I got exactly that. they're much stronger attachment points, and easier to hang & release. my mini-lanyard hangs very close to the old R side attachment point, and that sometimes got a bit cludgy, trying to access that with the saw there.
and the screwlinks, being closed, will never allow a rope to clip in there accidentally when i'm swinging around, or squeezing thru tite spaces.
Also on the saws I'm using dyneema slings now, rather than hardware, to connect tudda saw's hanging ring, and i find that SO MUCH nicer on the hands. after grabbing fudda saw all day long, sometimes it starts to smart, those hard metal pieces. The dyneema is soft, easy to grab, and no matter how i twist it, it doesn't bite me. i'm also using the smoothest 'biners known to man (DMM of course) so even the 'biner is easy on the old bones. and with traps to keep the slings where they should be.
Upon further inspection i also found the web strapping that routes thru top slots of the front D rings is showing some signs of wear.
