We Might Want You!

We might want you! The Might Be Monkeys! Texas Tree & Land Co. Is looking for someone to run our new crew: ISA Certified Arborist & good climbing experience is a must. We are a well established but small company that is exsperencing some growth and looking for the right folks to grow with. PPE, climbing gear and saws are all state of the art for what is needed here in Texas but the trucks and chippers are small and a little older. Position would start @ $15 per hour and include paid holidays after 6 mounths. After 1 Year: 33-40k salary + paid vacation based on experience, productivity and reliability. After one year the company will also pay for you to attend your CEU classes during normal work hours towards recertification and also pay your recertification cost + ISA and Chapter Dues. That’s the best we have to offer for now and I hope that some one out there will find this offer interesting. We also have a company Canoe! Only really hard working, reliable individuals with references and a resume should respond to: Nevic Donnelly 512.922.7058 / texastreecare@hotmail.com

That is seriously the name! I know these guys from my days in Austin. Stand up bunch. Seem like they would be fun to work with and Austin is a great town. /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I remember one in FL years ago, Savage Steve's.

Then my favorite non-tree one was in MA...Death Wish Piano Movers, nice black trucks too.

Thanx Nathan, for the good word. I was just asking about you a few weeks ago, it seems that some one here in Austin has taken up your old company name. I have wondered often were you disapeared to. For any one else who might be wondering how seriously they can take an outfit called "They Might be Monkeys!" ask around with the Texas folks you now and I think you'll find every one knows who we are and will have nice things to say. And yes! We still need help.

I remember as a kid (1977) being in Austin state capital building at night time, having a look around. My dad decided to take a picture of the dome from inside the building. So he set his camera on self take and laid it on the ground pointing directly upwards, the gaurds thought he was leaving a bomb on the ground, so we had to explain it was just a camera, they put their guns away then.

Nevic, Last time I was in Texas was 1985 my dads brother lives there in Brownwood he´s an architect (James Orr) and i have a couple of Aunts removed through my Uncles marriages, but I was more Richmond VA bound between 97-2000. Due to having a southern belle Girlfriend. I hope to get back sometime soon to Texas but I have been saying that the last 21 years. My dad should of moved there when me and my sis were kids. I feel at home their.

So what do people want out of a job long term? 20-30 bucks an hour is alot more than I can offer at this point. I Would expect that much at least for mySelf and could get it, but the truth is I've never hired any one that was worth a [what???] on their first day or first mounth for that matter. For those of you that are getting that, Are you geting paid vacation and holidays, Geting paid when the weather just sucks to bad to be in the trees and geting paid to lay in bed when your sick? Whats the Deal? Why the Hell is 15 bucks an hour such a bad deal to start and prove your self with a company that will take care of you and deliver full time work year around? Give me some input. Texas needs more good Arborists and less yahoo's with 20 years experiance who can't tie a knot or make a branch coller cut. Thanx

I don't know too many highly experienced good tree guys that are willing to relocate. Your best bet is to start at the local level, through college job fairs etc. and train a kid to be what you are looking for. You may have to bite the bullet for a while, but at least you know what you are getting. Once the kid gets proper training and establishes himself as a competent arborist, you better pay him honestly or he will jet. /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Well Doc This Thread was created to attract just that. Some one Young who has some back ground but needs exspiriance with some one who will treat them right. The whole reason That this company even exists is because back in 1999 I had been running someone elses company and they just would never bump me over 12 Bucks. If That other guy would have let me manage the existing resources in the right way and paid me right he could have retired by now. So I am Looking To treat someone right and I'm offering the position and benifits I would have stayed on board for after six years. So any other thoughts are welcome. So 20-30 Bucks is sick time and vacation, Holidays, Benifits, Ect...? I might really concider coming to work for you down the road, Thats better than I do on my own. Better yet come to Texas, buy me out and keep me on staff. No Joke. - Nevic

Good luck, brother!

If the situations were right I would take you up on the offer Nevic, my backgroung is more forestry and just do groundie work now, basically I am your chainsaw operations worker. Had a boss many years back in Scotland (University of St.Andrews) that talked to much bull and never got me round to climbing. (still makes me mad to this day) Then came out here to germany originally 5 years back for 6 months and worked on the railway line clearance, running one of the four teams. Then went back home to the UK went and started a higher national diploma at college but dropped out because I needed money again, but through the college ended up working for Pius Floris in Amsterdam, which to be honest was the ever training I ever got from a company. As we dealt with all aspects of the Arb business, so you were not just left there to twiddle your thumbs somedays. But after 2.5 years and a company merger I decided to leave and come back and work for the company I started with here 5 years ago. But maybe next year I may sort something out withyou Nevic if the offer stands, I have your email address so I will send you my American style RESUME that I processed a few years back.

Once again thanks for the offer, maybe we sort something out in Gods Country, well to be honest my hero is Lance Armstrong I fly the lone Star in my house here with times seven written on it.

Yours scotty
