With scuba gear? Shucks man, that's cheating! Do it with no tanks!! How do you know your #3 & that no one else has been there except you & the other 3?

Do you record any of your expeditions?

This is video from the above referenced cave. Video didn’t turn out very good, 9 years ago it was a lot harder to shoot good video underwater. I got some condensation in the housing and it made it foggy.

This dive was 5 hours round trip. Some of that time was spent transiting/exploring dry sections.

I think that is a profound idea. Thanks. Now I will steal it.

This is no joke as I think you get. There is “who we think we are” based on how we grew up, what we’ve failed or accomplished, what we do for a living etc. etc. All of these things are important of course. But they may not add up to who we really are. I go to the woods and trees to answer that question. The question needs to be asked over and over again. The answer is always the same: this is who you are, this is where you belong.

Climbing has helped me reclaim that sense of wonder at everything around me that I had as a child. For years I became buried in my work and lost that. Life became quite stale and a drudge. I loved trees as a kid and could not stay out of them. It has been wonderful to be up in trees again, and to do it relatively safely this time. A great side benefit at my age is that it is fantastic exercise. The fact that my neighbors think I have lost my mind doesn't bother me one bit. I was already considered the local eccentric!

I started climbing recreationally to get over my fear of heights. I found it fun but after the initial challenge, there was no more challenge that was worth the risk. Then I discovered cat rescues. I rescue kitties in tree, drones also, just for the fun and challenge. Cats makes me do things that I would not ordinarily do, like extreme limb walking, climbing to the tip tops of trees and branches, and high lining. I have attempted more than 250 cat rescues and been 100% successful.
