I need to replace a worn bridge on a first generation New Tribe Nikosi. This is the clunky version that had rings not shackles for the bridge attachment points. Here is a link to the user guide for reference.

I can get shackles and a webbing bridge from New Tribe but the shipping ($17) is super super silly.
Could a rope bridge be substituted for the webbing bridge? The lower D ring that helps to support the bridge has a fairly small diameter and unfriendly squared edges (by design surprisingly), this is causing me to ask for advice before converting to a rope bridge. I'm not sure if the bend radius is a concern but the edges might be on a rope bridge. I'm just thinking it would be cheaper and I can avoid having to buy the shackles, plus it would be easily replaceable.
Another option is to use the Onyx webbing bridge conversion kit that comes with the shackles but I need to verify that the length is correct. The shipping on this is much better and does not have to be purchased directly from New Tribe.
Hi, I saw your post and yes $17 for shipping does not sound right. Someone is looking into it on our website. If you still need a bridge please contact New Tribe and we can go from there. If your bridge is worn we want you to have a replacement.
What do you guys think? If you are voting for a rope bridge, what kind would be appropriate?
I know, just getting another saddle is another option but the checkbook balance says otherwise. I have to make due with the ol' Nikosi for now....
A response! Well maybe no, just a re-post quote?
Yes the Onyx webbing bridge kit should work. The length is the same as the Nikosi. Do you need to replace the shackles as well as the bridge? Will this Onyx webbing bridge replacement work off the shelf? http://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?category_id=325&item=3639
I checked the shipping again for the Onyx webbing bridge on the New Tribe site and was quoted over $17 (lowest price option). I did contact New Tribe by email several weeks ago and I was directed to the New Tribe site and the Onyx Bridge replacement with shackles. I was also told I had to put a note on the order that it was for a Nikosi.
I can get free shipping from Treestuff but I need to know if the length of the onyx bridge is correct. Color doesn't matter; current bridge is red, black would be fine to save shipping costs.
I'm assuming you are not recommending using a rope bridge as a replacement.....
