I don't have a service manual for my BC1230A Chipper. I am replacing one of the feed wheel hydraulic motors because the bearing is shot and it is leaking like crazy.
I got one used off of another BC1230 and put it on and it seems to work great and no leaks!
My question is about the shaft on the hydraulic motor. The one I pulled out of my chipper had a bolt and locknut in the end of the shaft. The one off the other chipper had no bolt in it. It seems to be a threaded blind hole in the shaft that does nothing for the chipper as it just slides into a hole in the feed wheel with a key way. I felt down in the hole and the bolt doesn't engage with anything so I assume it is for another application? I should add that the motor I took off my chipper that had the bolt in the end was a different color so it was clearly replaced by somebody at some point so maybe the bolt was just in the motor that they installed?
Anyway just looking for some input from someone who has changed one out. The bolt seems to serve no purpose for my application but I am just making sure.
