I am not sure if this is the proper forum...but my question is this:

does anyone have any suggestions on vehicle insurance?

I have an F350 dually that i use for work and personal use. I own my own business and use the truck to pull a dump trailer, bobcat, and the occasional lift. I have been using State Farm for years on all my personal vehicles, but they won't insure the F350 as a personal or even business vehicle. They will only classify it as "commercial", based purely on the weight of the truck (14K lbs GVWR). Which, at least with State Farm, increases their rate almost 10-fold. I ain't bout that life

That personal/commercial distinction should go the way of the dinosaur, unless the insurer wants to know percent personal/business. There are so many people using a vehicle for both.

Shop around.

I can understand the “commercial” label, as there is usually a weight limit for that; also anything with a bed other than a pickup box is required to be labeled “commercial.” However, the price seems quite excessive. I have used two different insurance companies, Goodville Mutual and Erie for my commercial auto for our fleet and have not found any difference in cost over a personal policy for the same coverage.

Yes, it is a commercial vehicle for the insurance companies if you are using it for business. I used to pay $8,000 a year for a two F-250, one F-350, one F-450 all model 2008. I took the full cover off and now I'm only paying around $3,500
