Utility work

I am surprised to see a lctt there at all. Why did they have you doing the work when there was a clearance crew on site? Were they supposed to get clearance for you first?

By the way, great pics, big jobs. I'm about to leave my comfy training job and go back to work in line clearance, and your pics are making me re-think....

Pretty strict minimun approach distances around here even for the lineman and lctt. Yesturday I pruned an Oak for them. The crown of the tree was way clear but the truck was around 2' away. Since the lctt do not use throw ball or footlock they could not acsess the tree without vialating thier seperation rules. So they had use do it.

Tod where are you doing this Line Clearance work? Out here in Co.it would be real nice to use a crane to do some of those close ones. They just figure if you cant do it without a crane you shouldnt be doing it to begain with.

Seems to be the norm we had a similar situation just yesterday real close about 1' away from the phase. I refused to climb it. And got a pretty good tongue lashing, but I went home alive, the pwer company came the next day and insulated and helped us with the removal.

Had to remove this Silver Maple for the utility yesterday. It had many spots of advanced decay.

In the center lead it had 2 cables about 4" apart. Each one going to the opposite sides, both stems were co-doms.

We used 2 round slings and 3 spider legs. The spiders are super fast and easy to install, I used cowhitches. If you really the pieces to come off as the sit the round slings and spider legs semm to work really well

I took the brush off one side and the cable stayed tight, not good. I took the brush off the opposite side and the cables finially slacked.
