trouble replacing gaffs

Location
Michigan
I just got a set of replacement gaffs in the mail for my geckos. Can't budge those screws to take out the old gaffs, even after cleaning off any dirt I found and trying to get some wd40 on as much of the old screw as is exposed. Any tips?

PATIENCE! What I endned up doing with my bashlins was grinding part of the old gaff away with the screw then was able to unscrew it. They are notorious for being HARD. And I figure it's good that they are like that.

Believe Me I've thought of that but I've kicked my self before using the If in doubt torch it out technique. That kind of heat with aluminum and the temper Don't think it's a good idea. Too hot.

If they're aluminium then the problem is corrosion between the aluminium and the steel bolt. It maybe worth your while finding a stainless steel bolt to replace it, you won't have that problem in the future. My suggestion for removing it would be persistance, and if that doesn't work then maybe remove all the non-metal hardware and put it in the oven at around 175 degrees for a half hour or so then very quickly after you take it out try and remove the bolt.

heat the works like classic suggested then take an ice cube and touch only the screw head then apply a better penetrator like liquid wrench heat then repeat and try to remove the screw.

The dissimilar metal corrosion is a bitch. In addition to the above advice, tap on the shank as you apply pressure to the screw, it helps break the corrosion.
