Treework In Japan

I was sent this video from our STEIN distributor in Japan. John is both a Trainer and major Arb Supplier in Japan and is working very hard to promote treework over there. Arborist are few and far between in Japan. There are many workers in the video, these are Johns Students. The main reason for the video is a Welsh TV company was filming Welsh made products being used in Japan.

Watch and enjoy, the film is in 2 parts

Part One

Part Two

Lucky crew to work there. Some mistakes but that's how we learn. I'll have to have a medicine man on the crew to bless the trees now or an alcoholic so at least we have some booze to pour on the roots to dull the pain.

I would loved to have been a part of that! I would volunteer for something like that in a heartbeat and pay my own way! That would be a trip of a life time! Great video, thanks for posting

From the brief shots of the tree, it seems it was in good health, and don't camphors get to 700 years old? I know the wood is brittle, but could you elaborate on the reason for removal?

Great stuff otherwise, I would also love to be a part of something like that, just to visit Japan is a dream of mine, thanks for the video, and the Sake!

I agree...especially to do the tree work.

Awesome video! I saw Dr. John Gathright do a great talk during the ISA ITCC Rain delay day.

Thanks for posting this!

I have alot of respect for John and what he is doing in Japan.
Watched his presentations at the Morton Arboretum at ISA. Great stuff.

From the 1st video shots, it appears as though there are no support roots on the side away from the temple. Maybe a 'back support cable' woulda worked, instead of removal.
