Treestuff bogus product ratings

Hi all,

Ever notice how almost all the reviews on tree stuff are favorable? I thought it was because the products are good but recently found otherwise.

Reviews are crucial to determining on what to spend hard earned money on. We want to make the best decision and need to sift through several different brands to do it. I bought a product on Treestuff and was not happy with it. The craftsmanship was subpar to the other brand which I already owned. Why did I buy the made in China pos? Because it was a few bucks cheaper and had a deal where it came with a free sling. The reviews were great so I figured I'd give it a go. Well leson learned cheaper was not equal to the made in USA product. Big surprise right? Not.

My point is had there been honest reviews I would have been saved from this nonsense of getting a free sling but an inferior product. I wrote a one star review and it was never posted. I wrote a second one star review and was contacted by the company. That was great and I appreciated it; but still my review is not posted.

Buyers beware.

There and elsewhere I’ve read negative reviews where they wrote how many stars (1-3) but clicked on 4-5 stars. A possible way to bypass the sifter if it’s automatic?

I'm not happy with TreeStuff at the moment. I placed an order for 2 in stock items on Monday the 11th. I received an email on the 11th with my invoice, which showed the order was received on the 12th. After not getting a shipping notice by Thursday, I called. The rep said they were just running behind, confirmed my items were in stock and said they'd probably ship Fri or Sat. Here it is Saturday, and the website still doesn't show my order. Now I suppose it will be at least a week before they even create a shipping label for my order. Glad I'm not in a pickle needing the items. All the online vendors who ship same day have spoiled me.

Pretty sure my very negative review of the steel notch geckos they have me for free as a promotion thing is posted, they did contact me and offer to see if they could "make things right" they were free and I sold them for 200$ and put the money toward my Bucklights.

I’ve had excellent service from Gap, Bartlett arborist supply, arbsession, and wespur… hmmm notice a pattern or maybe a couple companies missing?

In fact I live close enough to Bartlett arborist supply that most stuff arrives the next day if I get my order in by 3pm. Super fast shipping.

Bartlett is my most used arb vendor, followed by Wesspur. This is my first order from TreeStuff IIRC. I also buy from the gear vendors targeted at cavers, as I'm also a caver. I've bought a few items from my Stihl dealer 3 miles away, as they're making a decent effort to stock arborist supplies and I want to encourage them.

Our stihl dealer has a pretty good selection of climbing gear I buy stuff from them when I'm able to unfortunately ordering through them can be a pain as their reps are less than reliable, like won't show up for 3 weeks after their scheduled appointment on a regular basis.

Right on. Our best Stihl dealer in this area is the same. It’s nice to know that if I needed something in a pinch I can always pick it up there vs. having to rely on mail order.

My last order from TreeStuff was during their Black Friday sales, and included among other things, about a dozen pieces of Rope Runner parts. No surprise, a couple of parts were missing, and I received double the amount of another part. I let the dust settle for a week then contacted them regarding the missing pieces. It took several tries over two weeks to even get a response. Holidays and covid, I thought. When they finally responded, they apologized and said they would ship the missing pieces by the end of the day. Meanwhile, I placed a second order for a different item.

Two more weeks go by - no parts, but the second order arrived. I contact them again about the missing parts and have to wait another week for a response. They said that the person who handled my original complaint got covid, and so the missing parts never got sent out, but that they would send them right away.

I wait another week, no parts. I email them again, and again have to wait days for a response. Once someone responds, they tell me I got my order because the UPS tracking system showed it was delivered. They got confused as to which order was incomplete and were looking at the tracking number of the second order I had placed. When I explained they were looking at the wrong order, they claimed they couldn't find a tracking number for the earlier Black Friday order (with the missing parts). Luckily I had saved it and sent it to them. Then they couldn't comprehend that even though the box was delivered, some of the pieces were missing. To prove it, they had me dig out all the pieces from the order (this was nearly six weeks later), lay them out on the table, and send them a photo so they could see which pieces I got and didn't get. They seemed indignant that it could be their fault. Without any further response or apology, I suddenly get an order confirmation and tracking number for the replacement parts emailed to me. It took seven weeks and a dozen emails to get the parts.

To top it off, while I'm waiting for the new pieces to come, I discover they filed a missing package claim with UPS for the original shipment so they could get refunded. Crooked fucks.

Call them, the few times they've sent me something wrong a 5 minute phone call got it straightened out, last time someone sent a 10 mm htp instead of 11, and from the previous order a wrong wedge, they sent me the correct rope and wedge quickly and I have an extra climb line or whatever I want to use that 10mm rope for.

I personally review all of our product reviews. When product reviews are negative they still get posted. If a review has no meaningful content, or has foul language, is lewd, crude, or otherwise unhelpful it doesn't get posted.

Sometimes we are able to reach out directly to the reviewer and solve their issue, and in those cases also the reviews might not get posted.

If you submit a review and it wasn't posted it either one of those reasons above, or I just haven't had time to read it and post it yet.

The good old school Treestuff went out the window when SherrilTree bought them out. Can't blame Luke for wanting to free up time to live his life. The people might not of changed but the company did. I use to get orders from them in 2-3 days. I made a few orders with them since then and transaction times were terrible, more then a week on both. I order primarily from Wesspur and baileys now. Although I continuously hear good things about arbsession and bartlettman.

I gotta say, I’ve never had a smooth transaction/experience when ordering from treestuff, therefore I haven’t had the opportunity to leave a review in years. I’d rather backorder through someone else, or I’ll improvise if need be.

I noticed this a while back when there was a certain “event”….

Do the meaningful comments leave out unfavorable reviews? Meaning if I post a no comment review with 5 stars and one with one star, do they both go in the round bin? I question if the vetting process doesn’t have some subjectivity to ‘meaningful content’.. while I could never prove it, I’ve seen where some negative reviews were much later removed, but the positive ones remained.

That is extremely frustrating.
