Interesting...I know V. prunifolium as blackhaw, but that's a new one to me!

Looks like V. rufidulumis more southern is distinguished by rusty hair on buds, but otherwise very similar. If it had a more northern range I'd be questioning if I've misidentified V. prunifolium

Anything that has been prescribed will be ignored and anything that could be destroyed will be destroyed because that is the way these things work.

It isn’t old growth but it’s as close to fern gulley as you get in this day and age.

I walked up the road earlier today to meet with the foresters overseeing it and watched a backhoe operator hit a guy wire and destroy a telephone pole, leaving live wires dangling. I asked him who he was going to call and he said I dunno. Walked a quarter mile up the road to find the GC and told him what had happened and he said that wasn’t his worker. The forester overseeing it says he isn’t in charge of the GC. The landowner says I need to talk to the forester.

The landowner is from Florida, has two homes, thinks he is an eco liberal and doing the right thing but he opened up the gates of hell in the garden of Eden. So disgusted by the things people feel they can do.
