The pic was taken in NC. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure it is a rubra. We have a wide variety of oaks in my area because oaks from the North and Oaks from the south overlap plus they often create their own hybrids.Rubra or falcatta? South Carolina I would think falcatta before rubra. Just asking. Both would look similar in that photo.
