Nay....not a hackberry...or serviceberry. Younger trees have smooth bark but the older ones get some texture to them like many of the other oaks....ooops

My first impression was U. parvifolia, but something said willow. So I guess that's my second guess. I have a third lined up, too.

Yeah, but I've never seen liquidambar with a full, christmas-tree-shaped crown like that. That's what made me think southern magnolia. Leaf shape (at least my blurred bad vision of it) says prunus. Give us a clue Tom?
