TreeMotion Saddle Adjustments

I have had my TreeMotion saddle for 4 months or so. Overall, I'm very impressed. Except for one issue.

My hip/Lower D adjustment is always shifting on me. It doesn't stay where I want it. Anyone else run into this problem? I'm thinking about making a small stitch just to hold it in place where I like it. It is getting a bit annoying.

Any tips/tricks/ideas?

Like you said, stitch it. I have everything stitched on mine. I'm wondering if something you're doing is hitting the release tab, allowing it to creep. Just a thought. I actually noticed that for me, it was when the saddle was coming in/out of the gear bag that the buckles could get knocked around and loose adjustment.

The one that always got me was the waist. I couldn't cinch it tight after connecting the buckle, and once I sat in suspension, the waist was loose. All I had to do was sit suspended (with feet still on the ground) and disconnect/adjust/reconnect the waist. Now, I have to exhale a bit while buckling the waist, but once I'm climbing, it's perfect and doesn't shift around.

Yea those tabs must be catching on something, somewhere, somehow. I'll be giving them a stitch or 2 so keep them in place. Thanks Oceans

Have u guys had the leg straps move so far up your leg that the hard material pushes into the groin muscle areas on your legs?? jeezzz!! Talk about uncomfortable. It almost seems like they could use more padding.

Yep. Stitch it up. Sooo hard to adjust the waist! Legs always creep... still the best saddle ever though!

Is there a good tutorial on getting initial adjustments dialed in on the Tree Motion? I just got the S.Light a week ago and it has felt great, but I need to adjust it a bit more and I'm kind of lost, as its a lot different than other saddles I've used.

Also if I freely hang in the saddle and relax my entire body, I basically invert into a bat hang. Will shortening the bridge help with this?.. I've messed with the hip adjustment and this helps a little, but not completely.

I have mine really baggy , it sits just on my hips , as people have said , the hip to leg attachments slip so once you have it set right , pop a stich in or some tape would work too i'd say.

Check the side bungees. They're probably laced near the buckle (refer to pic). Move them over a bit and your pads should stay out of the groin. Also, a tip I took from the onyx wearers, adjust the back bungees till your leg pads are near the back of your knee when you're standing.

One more tip for all tm wearers: replace the bungee with para cord to avoid the pin oak snap back.

As an Onyx guy myself I will second the "Back of knee" comment from Crimson. That is right where NT says to put them at it works perfectly on the NT saddles. Give that position with the TM, it may help.

Thanks Cking for the advise. That has never even crossed my mind. I'll give it a go tomorrow.

I think you need to adjust the hip/leg connection, dialed in its supposed to be a slightly reclined seated position. Bat hang sounds like you need to move it more towards the upper d rings.

Nice tips Darryl, picked up some para cord today, will be adjusting leg pads as well.

Further, climbingarborist has a nice tutorial on dialing in the gear loops that I found really useful.

TM stung me!

Awhile back I got a TreeMotion harness and am loving it. I just got stung by it today...right on the behind. I had never even thought about this being an issue. That darn branch snagged one of those back bungees as I was moving through the canopy, pulled it back like a slingshot, and POW. I felt like Disney's Goofy "Aaah hoo hoo hooey", it took me a second to figure out what stung me. Ouch. I will definitely be changing over to para cord...Thanks Crimsonking.

John, I've let out more than a couple yelps from tm stings. Then the guys want to know what's wrong. "My saddle bit me!"

Gotta say, it felt like I climbed in the TM forever before I got it dialed in. Seriously. Most difficult saddle to dial in ever, but totally worth the effort. I too prefer accessory cord over bungee ever where except to hang the leg straps. I'd rather deal with the occasional bungee snap than lose that infinite range of motion feel.
