Treemotion, again....

Well the one point is that the weaver is bulletproof when is comes to it staying buckled. Talk about speaking up when you shouldn't-- Look at it! It is right there for you to see. Thank you Tochmal.

Look, I am not trying to say that I am right nor am I trying to say you are wrong. All I am saying is this particular item looks to tricky and invloves to much maintainence for me but if there is a place that I could try a few saddles I would go there and try em. Also I don't think it proper to jest on someones name you have never met. And that I personally do not show I like go. That is all I said in the begining. I do not see antbody else getting slammed for having negative feelings for this item

Hey, I'm right there with you bro. Just asking for a little less doom and gloom thats all!

If you do get to try the saddle, let us know how you get on.

Was it that bad? Lets hear the cheap shot, I always appreciate a British sense of humor. I am sure others would like it as well.

If your not a good enough climber for the TM to be of further assistance to you then we'll wait............

Are you saying that only a climber who has reached an elite status (whatever that is) will have the knowledge and experience to use the treeMotion?

Does that mean it is only for comp climbers?

Its not a borrowing system, it more like the store just having some demos and a tree out back.
Thanks for responding,Ben

Thats actually an interesting question. At least to me.

I have been approached by new climbers in the past and asked: "What is the very best saddle"?

The question is tricky to answer because everyone has different requirements and ways of moving their body.

I look at various factors in order to answer the question in as constructive (to them) a way as possible.

For example;
If the person is very very hard on equipment, chucks all their climbing gear into a garbage pail and then chucks all that into the back of the chipper truck.
Or,
the person is looking to buy a saddle which will help them overcome some specific trouble they came to me for advice about. Pinching, excessive weight, too large or small 'D' rings, lack of, or too much of, attachment points. Or the saddle they are using is too bulky for them.
The list goes on and on.

I am of the firm belief that a saddle is a very personal decision for each climber.

Asking around to other climbers, checking the TreeBuzz for reports and personal experiances, and adjusting what you want by diligent research is a good solid way to make your purchase.

The TreeBuzz has a wealth of information on just about every tree saddle made, internationally and domesticlly.
So it, (TreeBuzz) is a very valuable resource.

As for suggesting that retailers should employ a harness borrowing facility....what if everyone wanted to borrow at the same time? And should that facility extend into other areas of equipment? Where do you draw the lines? I can't see how that would be practical.

I'll be first in line for the BC2000 with grapple please.

My apologies.....

my intent in starting this thread was just to share my experience with the TM harness. Good or bad.

I thought I would get some constructive feedback, and for the most part did, but all this bickering is not what I meant to come about. Thank you all for your honest replies. Thank you to the manufacturers for chiming in and thanks you to the distributor for chiming in. Thank you to Treebuzz for providing the forum to allow me to share my views. For those of you who chimed in just to start a fight- grow up!

and Russ..... It'll be a cold day in hell before you get me into a weaver saddle.

Aww, mang! They're so pretty when they're new!!!

Not to de-rail this thread, but I had the chance to use one of those just last week.

What a nice change. I was able to just set these huge wide crotched branches in and it just quietly chomped them down and asked for more.

No. I beleive this to be some of the British humor I asked for, otherwise it makes no sense.

i think what rupe means is that the various different attachment options on the tree motion offer new avenues to explore in general tree climbing.

For those using the TM that are smaller, say 30-32" waist, how does it fit?

I'm having a hard time imagining a one size fits all saddle that can fit a small guy like myself and also fit a 250lb "all american" climber? Is the harness really that adjustable?

No Steve, it was in fact just a cheap shot! The British sense of humour, as requested.

See how easy it is to misconstrue what is said? Reg Coates, lets hear it. You have to now.
