I was wondering if anyone knows what the black (nylon?) ring is? This is a picture of an amazing high line set up. makes the rigging hubs that much cooler. any help would be appreciated.

it is on the treemagineers blog http://www.treemagineers.com/blog/ three ropes are going to high anchor points and the black ring in question secures the hitchclimber pulley for a traditional climb system. it is close to the ground for the picture. they were doing some spar rigging testing and understandably did not want to be tied in to the spar as they were dropping unsafe weights in to it.

I cant seem to find an Antal ring where the edges are curved in like in this pic. do you have a link to something like this SumoClimber?

Gotcha. I thought maybe it was somehow connected to the set up so the camera would shoot at the right moment. Of course in video mode that wouldn't matter at a high enough frame rate.

The ball is an element made of high-impact resin, super-strong, that we had made up to be able to use the Rigging Hub in exactly this configuration. The zip ties are holding the GoPro mount in place. A lot of gear? Personally, I see one Rigging Hub, with lines tied directly into it, so no connectors to cross-load.

The set up worked fantastically, completely independent of the rigging system and lowerable from all three sides at any time.

A lot of gear doesn't mean too much gear. After seeing the big picture I can see how tidy the setup was.

I wndered what the lower straps were on the grcs. Makes with the big picture

Thank you for the awenser Mark. This is a very tidy set up indeed. Keven I personally would feel safer with a built for purpose tool in this instance given how different rope reacts and how someone would inevitably put too small a rope in there. There is also the 2 nd pic and the configurations that go along with having that ring in there.

Will these be for sale someday?

yeah they got so many cool things. I keep looking at them and trying to think of ways to apply them to tree work, thats beyond what we already do.
