A tree surgeon was lucky to escape serious injury this afternoon after accidentally cutting though his safety rope and tumbling 15 feet to the ground.

Paramedics attended the scene, in Valley Road, at around 10.40am. The man was rushed to Watford General Hospital but did not suffer serious injury.

Paramedic Richard Norton, who attended the scene, said: “We believe he was cutting down a tree when he accidentally cut through his safety rope.

“He then fell to the ground approximately fifteen feet.”

Im sure we all done this before but obviously he broke an important rule he couldn’t have had his lanyard on for a second tie in point. also why on earth would you cut that close to your climbing line, bad bad bad. Hard way to learn lesson but lets hope its a lesson learned
