tree stuff, its been real....

This whole thing is fucked if you ask me. More shit being blown out of proportion based on the current political climate in the world. Just don't buy his shit if you feel like he's a d-bag

I support treestuff on this. MCRS customers can still hunt Matt down for parts, right? I make purchase choices based on business ethics, and support alocal ethical issue - the living wage - from my business. Honestly, I'd avoid buying MRCS goods if the allegation is true.

Totally your choice to do that. Someone made my choice for me. I have no option like you now. How is that fair?

I gotta say, I don't own a mcrs or care who stocks them or not but I read some of the things Matt wrote and it just sounds batshit crazy to be honest. Kinda like he got into some bad LSD or something. Straight up old testament kinda shit. Gave me a whole new outlook on the guy (who I've never met)

Where does that ethical line get drawn? I'm in business to make money. Period. I get your point and agree with it but it still raises issues in my business brain.
I don't smoke or drink. Have close family members that struggle with the addiction. One of my biggest tree customers owns several package stores that makes a KILLING (literally) on selling beer and cigarets. Do I still continue to do business with this guy? Ethical mind tells me to not take his money. Don't make his property look so good when he is making a profit on others misfortune. My business sense tells me to do business with whoever is willing to pay my prices. Help me understand where do you draw the line.

I don’t believe this to be a valid metaphor. The relationship between us and a retail supplier is way different than the relationship between a service provider and their customer. It shouldn’t even matter where the customers income comes from.

Just my fart filled opinion.

Good point! I tend not to really care and just take as much money from whoever is willing to pay. I don't discriminate when it comes to the services we provide....we provide them to everyone.

I realize that since I don't have an MCRS, it's easier for me to leave off. Again, I suspect that you can still buy MCRS parts and saddles, so I'm uncertain that you're sol. But let's be honest, how are you going to feel buying direct from Matt if he's a fan of gender inequality? Yet you want Treestuff to do that dirt work? Also, ask a woman arborist how they feel about all of this... I wouldn't like being in your position, Steve, but let's do this gender equality thing. It's 2017. I'll split the cost of your new saddle, even though I know you can pay for it, because then you'll know that I'm not just a popcorn eating couch potato.

Sometimes I charge higher prices to people/entities that I have misgivings about, or decline to provide care. If I bill Hobby L*bby $1 million to remove a tree, I'm okay with that. But I wouldn't provide them a normal market rate. If my misgivings are greater, I charge more. If they are less, I charge less. Sometimes I let my client name their price. It's not black and white, but I think we all know it when we see it, and can take action by several paths, to several extents, to balance the scales.

I appreciate the offer but I would never take money from you or your family You earned that brother. As so far as the gender equality thing. Maybe i'm a selfish prick but I tend to look at things from my little micro existence not globally. If they don't wanna buy it, more power to them but I do and if they see I am also a gender basher by proxy, then its their narrow minded outlook and I likely wouldn't be friends with them anyway. There is a lot of things I don't support that others do. I don't condemn them for it. Thats just me. Make your stand. I respect your conviction.
