Really neat opportunity to work out on the island. Wide, windswept trees, awesome ocean front work sites, fishing, fun summer life, old captains houses and neat landscapes....
Awesome trip for the bachelor climber, just saying.....
Good luck with your search

I don't know if you monitor this thread anymore but I figured it wouldnt hurt to check, but I have a little over a year of climbing experience, no degree but have taken classes at arboretums and studied many ISA guidebooks and when I have enough experience in the industry will take the ISA exam. Thanks for considering!

Always been very curious about rates for tree work here and on the vineyard?

Pretty sure it's comparable to the hrly rate on the main land where I'm at. Glass ceiling for production climber around $25/hr. Maybe 30 if your a removal slave for a real whip cracker.
Where you outta @Jasonk ?

I'm in the five college area of western MA. My family and I visit the vineyard at least once a year and we actually just came back from Nantucket. I have had a fascination with both islands since first visiting and I have this dream plan to start a division of my company on Martha's Vineyard some day!

Any idea what service rates are like? Its obviously more expensive to run there.

I have no idea man. All I know is its island life, you better get to know people or even else money won't keep you afloat.
Some big contractors aren't at all local, so it's almost an easier way in to a better market, as opposed to competing with locals working for locals

No worries lol. Like I said, it's a pipe dream and until I hit the mother load I will be here working lol.

It's funny Jason, the grass is always greener. I went to the umass Amherst and miss that area. A lot more huge trees and people seem to respect them more.
I'm not fan of Martha vineyard. Then again I've never been there for vacation

Its true the grass is always greener.....We have built a solid biz here but it can be a struggle. Like most places the removal process is a very competitive market here. People do care about the trees......until they have to pay to preserve them, then we are back to step one. Definitely bigger trees here though, Im not sure Ive seen much out there far over 60' or so. I have kids and Im invested in their education here so like I say, the island is a pipe dream that will have to wait. Certainly a beautiful background to work on though with a very intriguing history......I guess that, with the demographic that owns real estate out there makes me think it would be easier to promote tree care there......just speculating of course!
