Total opposite of working for big oil

Whats up with no outriggers in these pics? Plenty of rooom to squirt them out. Just as alarming is the non use of dunnage/cribbing.

Good eye I missed that, I guess I was too busy drooling over the truck.

The outriggers on the non working side were down, look close and you can see them. Flip the truck over backwards (if they were not down), ain't gonna happen, way too much truck and not enough crane, a non issue.

The dunnage use, and/or lack of, is as mentioned adjusted as needed, dictated by soil conditions, the load, and distance out. This is not to be construed as "dunnage is not needed", it just wasn't for this particular pick.

FYI The Manitex 22101S fully retracted outrigger load chart shows a capacity of approximately 3500lbs at a 20' radius, which I was at, a bit less actually. In other words that pick (6 or 7 hundred, I forgot) could easily have been made with the outriggers on the working side in the retracted (again, down but not extended) position.

The way those outriggers are sunk down in pic #3...........

I DID miss them stabbed down, you are correct, bt it still makes me nervous.

Lets put your thoughts to the test. Run the outriggers out on one side, none on the other. Hold the skinny pedal down and boom up. Then STOP! See what happens, post a video. Stick all the way out of course. In other words its a lot of risk for no reward!

Stay Safe!!!

Putting the stabelizers down even if not out help to stabilize the suspension on the truck. This takes a lot of load of of it and makes the truck last longer. There is alot of torque on the frame otherwise.

I went back and looked at pic #3, the outriggers are NOT sunk down.
At full boom extention (101') with DOWN but fully retracted IN outriggers the Manitex 22101S is rated at 710 lbs @ 65' radius, and @ 25' radius, again with full boom extention it can pick 6,000 lbs. In the shot you refer to I was 20' out, and 6 or 700 lbs, it was a safe pick. To put it another way, I could have kept ALL the outriggers sucked in (but DOWN), and made that pick with about a 5,000 lb cushion! I agree, keep it safe!

I think one of the reasons the 22101S can do what it does, is, according to the Manitex guy I bought mine from, is it uses the same undercarriage/torquebox,stablizer setup as they do on the 30 ton rigs. Its super rigid and of course heavy, helping the counterweight scenario.               [ QUOTE ]
