Couple of short vids, thought I should keep a hand in at the video forum.

First clip is from today: A typical job here in Victoria. A dying Douglas fir....we zip-line all the lower limbs across the lawn to the chipper, then look to land a big top on a bunch of logs down below. Saw is a ported 390 with 28in bar.

Second was the last tree at the end of a long day. We were way ahead of schedule at this point (3 day job), so as tempting as it was to leave it till the morning, I knew that the perfectly still weather wasn't guaranteed to continue....It was the right decision. Edit Hard to see the litle tree to the right of where the top lands, to crush it wouldve been costly. A tight shot, but a good one.

I’ve got lotsa short clips like that, but a lot less time nowdays to ever do anything with them.

Nice saw work on the first notch.

What the heck throw in the mandatory don't one hand comment on the second one. Whatever it works.

If you go to Tofino try to get to Hotsprings Cove and camp for a couple days. They were still railroad logging when I was on the island not too long ago. That's quite the place.

Reg your the best in the business so I am not going to call you on the one handing.

Incredible landing on that large top. Gulp.

Thanks Bevin, Jon.

Well, hardly on the first part, but thanks all the same.

One handling, thats just the way it is. With a house only 5 feet from the tree (a wobbly 130ft beanpole), a gap down below only big enough to squeeze the top in, Im not about to start dickin around with a hand saw. Seconds are precious in such a situation, as is also imperative in getting a top to pop off clean.
