Restoration pruned a topped black cherry (Prunus serotina).

Nothing interesting...except for the back story:

I work on a college campus. This tree sits adjacent to a dormitory. It's the only topped tree we have on the grounds. Legend has it that a few years back, a student living in the dorm felt like the tree was blocking his view of the valley (great views where I work on top of a mountain)! So, this joker must have scored a ladder to haul up the first 15' of clear trunk, then hand over hand free climbed it to the top and started hatracking the poor tree with a bow saw until someone official caught him and stopped him.

And there I was today...

Cleaned up storm damage just in time for the next ice storm to knock stuff down. I imagine I'm not the only one on the east coast to be doing this today. Here's to hoping that it'll be rain or light fluffy snow. I'll accept nothing in between.
