Today....

Finished restoring my little tilt deck trailer today. Quarter sawn white oak deck, new paint new fenders, new lights, new wheels and tires. My paint job might last a year up here in the salt, so I plan to have it blasted and done properly before too much longer.

That oak deck should hold up better than treated pine. Looks great!

Trunk failure due to core-rot, or what?
The trunk had a vertical crack on the Northeast quadrant originating quite long ago, leaving the interior rather punky. Maybe an average of 20% decent wood around the entire trunk.

We just had a stiff wind from the Southeast, and the only tree that could buffer from that direction was deciduous and without leaves. Odd wind direction for this time of year.

The wind pressure initiated some flex which turned into rotation that opened up the crack. When the trunk split, the compression side of the stump stayed put while the tension side of the stump tore away and came up with the trunk until the tension was high enough to part off.

I’ll grab a photo today when I pick up the logs.

@Vicente, where you been?
I've been popping in and checking stuff out haven't had much to say lately, chippers down which has been kinda stressing me out. finally got the parts in yesterday after those asterds at cal line kept screwing it up, ordered the wrong part, didn't ship to me didn't call when it came in, guy went to pick up found it's the wrong part showed them the right part cal-tard said he was ordering it right away never showed up call they were still charging me for the wrong party never ordered the part said he's going to order so I'd have by the end of last week calls 2 days later to make sure I wanted it shipped to my house fing ridiculous. Took over 3 weeks just to order the right part.

That happened with my hooklift. It’s a Palfinger, so I was pretty surprised thinking it would have gone better. It took quite a while for them to send the wrong part. This was even after several photos of the part that broke due to lack of weld penetration. How they sent the wrong part is beyond me. When I called them back to explain, they determined the correct part and said it would ship right away. Well, that never came to me so I just ended up repairing it myself.

I hope you get around the corner soon here and get back up and running!

Here’s the stump for your forensic enjoyment!
