I am just curious if anyone out there has a spray rig set up appropriately for doing foliar sprays for 55'-70' trees that they might be interested in selling.
I am considering getting a set up for foliar sprays sometime before spring if possible, but I'm not really even sure what to expect looking for used rigs.

Ehhhhhh...large tree spraying isn't looked upon favorably these days...look into used TruGreen, Davey, or Bartlett spray trucks though.

Yeah I'm not really about it myself.
If i could ask you input, if one was trying to sell someone on treating a dozen trees a home owner for defoliaters, specifically gypsymoth and winter moth, is the cost going to be way different for a tree injection treatment than 2 foliar applications of the same 12 trees?

Trunk injection, which I hate..., can give you 2-3 years of control, possibly more. However, since yer talkin lepidopterous pests, a strong acephate basal soil injection followed by water is another option to kill gypos and other cats.

So, cost for one systemic is higher for one app but can last longer depending on the product.

Does it only kill cats that actually climb the tree, or can a fella actually knock off entire populations of cats without having to shoot out of the car window and buying expensive silencers and stuff?

Give a call to Orchard Equipment and supply co (OESCO). They are in Conway a little town just west of us here. They sell a ton of rigs and usually have a good used inventory. They sold us our 300 gal bean sprayer just the way they took it in trade (as is) or they will completely recondition.
