Throwline cube

Has anyone seen the new Throwline cube coming from Europe? Greg Good sent me one and I really like it! The cube is just larger than a 5 gallon bucket, but stores much smaller. It gives you the ability to have a very generous opening to feed your throwline into the cube, then folds up in a very neat way in seconds. It folds and spins down into a small triangle-shaped storage container with the line and bags inside- ready to throw. If you throw into trees where underbrush always tangles your line, this is for you. Talk about user friendly

You know Mark, It seems as though I had looked at one of those somewhere and didn't give it much thought. However, now that you mentioned what it is, it realy would be a valuble tool.Where would a person find one of these?

Greg

I've seen Greg's and Tom Dunlap's. They are great. Hope there in the new Sherrill catalog.

Greg is having a german climber come over on a visa, maybe he can bring a few with him

I have not heard of this so called cube, but I already know I want three of them.
Has anyone seen the new Petzl pirana figure eight. It's hot, with multiple braking positions and an easy lock off. It also has an ingenious carabiner guide that keeps it in one place.

Greg, I am waiting to hear where the cube is going to be available. I will post it as soon as I do. I like it more and more each day.

Dan, I too use the Pirana. I think that it is very neat. I really like how it works with 11mm as well. Those Petzl people are thinkers!

I saw Mark and Tom using one of these from a distance at the contest here last week. I'll agree it looks like a great way to handle throwlines. Easy to hit the bucket when feeding line in, nice and compact (flat, almost, it looked like) when stowed.

I wish I had made it a point to look at this up close when I had the chance.

Mark, the cube was developed by a guy from Freiburg, Germany named Heinrich Hauser. He's a great guy who has spent alot of time developing this product. I'm importing a bunch of cubes from him and will be making them available to interested climbers soon. I'm glad you like it, I think it's something that guys who use a throwline on a daily basis are going to find invaluable.

Be safe and Good.

Greg, put me down for one. DO you have a catalog?

Take a look here:

I use a divider made from foam board cut on the diagonal so that I can carry two throwlines in one Cube. The catch is that I can only fold the Cube in half not quarters. The line stays pretty much snaggle free. Occasionally, a bird's nest flies out of the cube. I think that's because of the pesky interdimensional creatures that come around to haunt me. Or rope pixies.

What do you think of the Golden Retriever from Sherrill, page 6?

Tom

Cubes are scheduled to arrive this thursday in Milw. I don't know how long they'll have to sit in customs. I will let you know when they're in my hands. Sorry Keith, no catalog, but the website Tom posted is the right one.

Life is Good. Greg

Hay Dan I take it you like the pirana? Is it one of those items that we need to add to the arsenal or just the same trick different wrapper? It looks like something from Star Treck. Let me know, Thanks Tony

I've just had the pirana for a week now, so I can't say I've given it a full testing. I really like it so far. One can adjust the friction to match the rope (new, used, single, double,or for heavy loads, etc.) The little hook can catch on stuff, but no more than the rescue fig8. I think it will be great for long descents.

I checked the web site that Tom posted for the cube. Thing is, I don't know how to read german so I didn't get very far. Tom, is that the same cube I saw you with in K.C. this past January?
