Thoughts???

I’ve used them, a friend of mine has one for his construction company. It’s a good machine, but it’s a bit big and heavy for most tree work in my opinion, and visibility is poor on one side with the boom in the way.

I could see a place for it on larger projects, especially with heavier logs though. I’ve thought about renting one for that reason, but they all have too aggressive of tires for us to use on turf.

According to factory with the large turf tires this unit even being 10k lbs the ground pressure is 100psi

That’s pretty high for something that’s supposed to run on turf; if my memory is correct a rubber tire skidloader is around 35 psi, but I could be wrong on that.

I once ran a 15' section of dead ~24" oak up a steep hill with my ditch witch sk650 in front of another tree service that was out with their full size loader. My log was bigger than theirs, lol, even if I was cheating/optimizing...

@CanadianStan The guys at top notch know about the Avant machines and respect them. They offer alternatives that are different and very frequently better, and they tend to bring new units to tree service companies before other sellers do. This thread is a bit of a testing ground for perceptions, and also for rubber meets road for what tree professionals think about ground pressure, speed, tip weight, etc. for the unit posted by the OP.
