I do like the product, as well as the whole arbor jet system. Still drilling into the tree though. I have also been trying out Safari as a basal bark drench. only time will tell, but i believe them to be equally as effective
The trunk discoloration with the Safari treatment is significant and aesthetically offensive I feel. Also seems to me in my non scientific observation that if you see this obvious trunk discoloration...aren't the lenticels becoming blocked over time (annl treatments)? As for the EmBen treatment...very effective but the size of the wound is significantly larger than what I am historically familiar with, with the pioneer system...Mauget. I have encountered Emben/Treeage failures...truth.
On the other hand...I have had significant difficulty getting the ash tree to take this new formulation (?) of Imidacloprid (Imicide) that was pre advertised to "move quicker" in the tree. Maybe it is just because they put a marker color in it this year and I notice it more...maybe because the blockage of the vascular system is more substantial this year with much heavier infestation...???
Also have an advert. that states it is effective for 3 years while when I questioned their rep...he knew noooooothing.
if the mauget caps aren't working for you and you still want to go with an Imidacloprid product you can use Xytect (rainbow tree care) also labeled for EAB and inject it into the ground.
I have been using Criterion 75 WSP in the soil. But trunk injections are all that will work in heavy pressure from what I have heard and witnessed around here. Plenty of City ROW failures I could cite daily.
