Things I suck at.....

Backing up a trailer
Keeping trailer lights working (may go hand in hand with 1)
throwing a throwball, if I don't have a big shot forgeeeeet about it
not laughing about huge holes put in yards from logs
driving a bucket truck without road rage

and I know there is probably dozens more

I suck at listing how many things I suck at.

I really suck at finding time to post pictures from work (thanks Cory for telling me that!)

- Taking criticism
- Believing coworkers think like I do on the technical jobs
- Making the quote on trees I like
- Dealing with workplace drama
- Staying with one company for longer than a year

I'm working on all of it, I swear.

Returning calls and doing bids, i am even bad about collecting payment.
Am I the only one that hears "i thought you forgot about me".? or "when are you gonna get to me?"

Mine would be ..,
1.Tree, pest, disease ID as well
2.Charging enough for the work I do
3.Finding employees (quality employees I should say)

As family said there is probably pleanty more. But not a one of us is perfect. We must do plenty of something well if were still doing tree care is the way I see it.

Rex, next time we hang out I'm going to teach you a good way to price trees and this is how I was recently taught and you should never under bid a tree again. I learned over the weekend how bad you can screw yourself on not making anything and still owe workers.

Please take the time and start a new thread on how this works. Everyone would like to have help making bids that are right.

Bidding is what it all comes down to. I just half priced 4 day's work because topped spruce get really bushy and grow about twice the amount of branch volume. One tree, no big deal, 20 trees, big deal. Could of been a great job and I'm sure they'd of paid more but I made a big underestimate. Everybody got paid last week but me. That sucked and so did my bidding.

When I was in high school my composition teacher taught us to read our papers in reverse in order to find mis-spellings.

When I had large estimates or multiples, like Boreality's spruces, I would walk the property one way, write the price, the go back the other way and look from a different view. If the two prices were different I would look closer. That helped tighten up the bids.

I will make the thread asap and I bet if you do this right you should not screw yourself at all.

i don't think anyone sticks to their original plan 75% of the time. looking at things on the ground has a total different perspective than looking at the same thing in the tree.
